  2.                                 An ANSI Quote File Updater for Second Sight....

This utility is really just a quick hack I did while taking a break from UserGrabber and CallGrabber (see below).  (This Doc file took me longer to write then the Application). This one is Freeware because all you REALLY need to do is run it once.  If your really happy with the output, send me $100,000 or a post card - your choice.

  8. What is it?:
  9.  
  10. In the days of old before Second Sight 3.0, Sysops didn't even have ANSI (gasp!)  As a result, Sysop's of former Freesoft BBS products may have a lot of Quotes in their Quote files that they never bothered to colorize or "pretty up" for their users.  Personally, I must have over 300.

  12. For you new folks, you can have a file named Quotes in your BBS System Files Folder that will display a random Quote to your clients upon login.

  14. Why Use It?:
  15.  
  16. Simple. Do you want to spend three hours of your time adding ANSI codes to your Quote file, or 5 minutes?

  18. How To Set It Up:
  19.  
  20. 1. Just drop Quote Monger and its Data File in the same folder as your Quotes file.
  21.  
  22. 2. Using a text processor (SimpleText, RedWriter) open the QuoteMongerData file, you will see something that looks like this:

  27. All the above is are a couple of ANSI characters and code that I used to turn this line of what my users see for a quote:

  38. The first line is the blue ANSI line followed by an ANSI code for Red Text with a White background.

  40. The Second is the blue ANSI line again, followed by ANSI code to reset back to my normal colors.

  42. Play with it! Have fun!  I kept an original unedited version of my Quotes file just in case I ever get bored and want something else.  Once launched, QuoteMonger reads your old file and creates a new once called New Quotes.
